Free life simulation game
Growing Up is a free life simulation experience for Roblox created by ScottSpiritWalker. The game may not have the deepest purpose, but it’s still incredibly fun. The game is relatively mature in Roblox terms, having been created and released in 2017. However, it still enjoys upwards of 2,000 visits at any given moment and has been played almost 500 million times. Furthermore, almost 1.8 million players have listed the game as one of their favorite experiences.
There is no clear alternative to Growing Up on Roblox, nor anywhere else. The game has such a vast range of mechanics and functions that it is simply incomparable to anything else. However, Roblox is one of the most diverse gaming platforms on earth, specifically due to the games being created by players themselves. Therefore, it is possibly the best place to find games that could compare to Growing Up. To that end, try Natural Disaster Survival and Don’t Press the Button 4.
Interesting premise
Growing Up is essentially a life simulator in which you take the place of a child who needs to perform certain tasks to grow up. With each successful task completed, your character will be required to celebrate a birthday party with their family, which in turn will add one year to their age and thus increase your level within the game.
One really welcome addition is that your character actually gets taller as they grow, leading to a real sense of accomplishment with each passing birthday.
Numerous mechanics
If nothing more than a fun way to pass the time, Growing Up can be considered a way to practice skills you may need in other games. Every action that you need to complete is quite different from those preceding or those that follow, so the game never quite gets boring.
You’ll need to do everything from feed pets and learn to skateboard, to going to school and learning to drive. The game feels rewarding without being too long-winded. That said, you should count on being aboe to spend quite a few hours on a full playthrough.
Thoroughly enjoyable
Even though there is no real multiplayer aspect to this game, and that is usually what Roblox games glorify above all else, this game is still well-postioned on the platform as players could learn a great deal from it. As stated previously, players can pick up valuable tutorials for moves they’ll need to make in other games, and have fun while doing it.
All in all, Growing Up encapsulates and condenses what it feels like to be a child trying to navigate a complicated world, and therefore also gives older players a chance to return to simpler times.
